“Crank the Weasel”

Power Ups

Brian Silva

Basics

Automatically activated upon pickup.  Power-ups are spawned from predetermined playfield points every 5 minutes throughout gameplay.  Both Chickens and Vermin bring Powerups onto the playfield.  Only one type of power up may exist at a time on the playfield.  Power ups will remain on the playfield for 30 seconds.  Power ups are attained by Weasel simply colliding with the power up.  Any special item Weasel may be carrying upon attaining a power up is placed in Weasel’s pants and cannot be used until the power up has completed its course.

It may be necessary to freeze the onscreen action around Weasel while Weasel goes through his power up “transformations” in order to avoid him being injured or interrupted during a power up’s startup sequence.  Game action would resume as soon as Weasel’s startup animation concluded.

Rabies

Rabies

1.       Overview

a.       Rabies is an unusual transformation that turns Weasel into a rabid maniac, running wild throughout a playfield, biting and spreading his ailment onto other characters

b.       Occasionally carried onto the playfield by Vermin, rabies comes sealed inside an oversized tin can that is clearly marked with the word “RABIES”

c.       Rabies is good for distracting a large number of NPCs in order to make it easier to carry a BTI back to Mr. Pawn

2.       Acquiring Rabies

a.       To acquire rabies, Weasel simply needs to rundown the can-carrying Vermin (squashing Vermin and knocking can loose)

                                                   i.      Then pickup and open the now-dislodged tin can while standing over it (canned animation sequence)

o        Sound of can opening is played

ii.      Particle bat-swarm instantly covers Weasel

o        Sound of screeching bats is played

3.       Rabies Startup (around 3 seconds)

a.       Sound of Klaxon (submarine alarm) is played immediately after the bats are let loose

b.       Covered in rabies-infested bats, Weasel begins screaming and flailing (bats fly away).

c.       Weasel goes through his rabies startup animation.

d.       A dramatic off-screen cry of “RABIES!” is heard

                                                   i.      A HUD graphic of the word “RABIES!” appears on screen

ii.      Rabies HUD graphic quickly disappears

e.       The Benny Hill theme (Yakety Sax) begins playing.

4.       Weasel During Rabies

a.       While Rabid, Weasel will automatically run at top speed (no idling, sneaking or walking)

                                                   i.      The player can only control Weasel’s direction (like steering a runaway car)

b.       During this state, Weasel cannot pay cash, initiate a conversation, use a special item or knock on doors to play bonus games.

c.       If Weasel is carrying a weapon prior to this mode, the weapon will be stowed in his pants until rabies mode is complete.

5.       Power Ups & Special Items During Rabies

a.       No other power ups (chickens or another can of rabies) can exist on the playfield during this mode.

                                                   i.      Any chickens or rabies cans would disappear with a poof of particle smoke

b.       Weasel can pickup a stray special item but won’t be able to use it until rabies is over (item stays in Weasel’s pants until rabies concludes)

6.       Passing on Rabies

a.       Weasel can pass on rabies onto Scrappers, Meatheads and Pinups

                                                   i.      Weasel will automatically bite an NPC when he runs into them

o        Chomp SFX and brief canned laughter plays

b.       Any victim bitten by a rabid Weasel (or any other rabid character) becomes infected.

                                                   i.      A rabid character will chase after uninfected victims while tossing out valuables at the same time.

ii.      A rabid character can pass rabies along simply by colliding with another character.

7.       Length of Rabies (around 60 seconds)

a.       The rabies chain-reaction is time-based according to how long Weasel is infected.

                                                   i.      All other characters will recover from rabies at the very moment Weasel recovers.

ii.      Rabies will last for the entire duration of the music’s wav file, which will be anywhere from 60 seconds (approximately).

8.      Rabies & Pinups

a.       If a Pinup is “bitten”, she gets “The Fever” and (with a puff of smoke) instantly strips down to her undergarments and runs wild throughout the city streets while the other rabid characters (within detection range) desperately chase after her.

b.      A rabid character’s first priority is to infect 2 other characters before chasing after a rabid Pinup.

c.       A “wolf howl” sounds when a Pinup is bitten.

9.       Other Rabies SFX

a.       When Weasel has rabies, every bite he takes out of an NPC is accompanied by a loud “chomp” followed by one second of canned laughter.

b.       Brief canned applause plays at conclusion of Rabies.

10.   NPCs Immune to Rabies

a.       Gargantuan, Goon, Chump, non-hired Toadies and special case characters cannot catch rabies.

Full-Tilt-Weasel

Full-Tilt-Weasel

1.        Overview

a.       Full-Tilt-Weasel is a transformation that temporarily instills Weasel with enhanced strength that he can use to unleash upon other characters.  Full-Tilt-Weasel is good for knocking out larger NPCs or entire gangs in order to make it easier to carry a BTI back to Mr. Pawn.

2.       Acquiring Full-Tilt-Weasel

a.       To acquire Full-Tilt-Weasel, Weasel must chase after and catch (run into) a stray chicken (chickens are found scattered throughout the city)

                                                   i.      Once the chicken is caught, Weasel automatically picks it ups and stuff it in his mouth (canned animation sequence)

o        Sound of chicken squawking and Weasel munching is played

o        Particle feathers fly about

3.       Full-Tilt-Weasel Startup (around 3 seconds)

a.       Weasel quickly swells up to Meathead-sized proportions

                                                               i.      Similar to a Dr. Jeckle & Mr. Hyde transformation

b.       A HUD graphic of “FULL-TILT-WEASEL” appears onscreen

                                                               i.      FTW HUD quickly disappears

c.       TBD musical tune accompanies Weasel’s antics during this mode

4.       Weasel During Full-Tilt-Weasel

a.       During this state, Weasel cannot climb ladders, use zip-lines, exit the playfield, use a circus cannon, parachute, pay cash, initiate a conversation, use a special item or knock on doors to play bonus games

b.       If Weasel is carrying a weapon prior to this mode, the weapon will be stowed in his pants until mode is complete

5.       Power Ups & Special Items During Full-Tilt-Weasel

a.       No other power ups (chickens or another can of rabies) can exist on the playfield during this mode

                                                               i.      Any chickens or rabies cans would disappear with a poof of particle smoke

b.       Weasel can pickup a stray special item but won’t be able to use it until rabies is over (item stays in Weasel’s pants until rabies concludes)

6.       Full-Tilt-Weasel & Scrappers

a.       Weasel can easily knock any Scrapper unconscious while Full-Tilt mode

                                                               i.      Simply running into a Scrapper will rendering him unconscious

o        Weasel must be traveling greater than a certain rate of speed to “bulldoze” a Scrapper

b.       Weasel can also use a two-fisted “sledgehammer” attack on Scrappers

                                                   i.      The “sledgehammer” attack causes Full-Tilt-Weasel to slam his fists into the ground, causing a shockwave to emanate from the impact

ii.      If the “sledgehammer” attack’s shockwave collides with a Scrapper, the Scrapper will be knocked unconscious

7.       Full-Tilt-Weasel & Meatheads

a.       Weasel can battle with toe-to-toe Meatheads while in Full-Tilt mode

                                                               i.      Standing against a Meathead and pressing the “action” button causes Weasel to deliver body blows (right & left hand)

o        Successful punches create bursts of particle dust

o        Meathead grunts in pain with each punch received

ii.      If Weasel delivers 3 body blows within a 5 second span, the Meathead will be knocked out

iii.      If Full-Tilt-Weasel receives 3 body blows from a Meathead within a 5 second span, Weasel will be knocked out

iv.      A Meathead will approach and fight Full-Tilt-Weasel as soon as he perceives Weasel

o        However, the Meathead will not stray very far from his Pinup (20 to 25 feet)

8.       Length of Full-Tilt-Weasel

a.       Full-Tilt-Weasel is time-based (around 60 seconds)

9.      Full-Tilt-Weasel & Pinups

a.       Weasel can flirt with a Pinup during Full-Tilt mode

                                                               i.      Standing near a Pinup and pressing the “action” button causes Weasel to showoff

o        Weasel will pose like a body builder, and belch out “I love you!”

b.       The Pinup will swoon over Full-Tilt-Weasel

                                                               i.      She will demurely wave, giggle and blow kisses

ii.      Her flirting will cause her Meathead to “go after” Full-Tilt-Weasel

o        This is assuming the Meathead has yet to perceive Weasel

10.   Other Full-Tilt-Weasel SFX

a.       Heavier footsteps

b.       Deafening punches

                                                               i.      More like explosions than actual punches

c.       Vocals while showing off to Pinup

d.       Grunts, groans, shouts

11.   NPCs Immune to Full-Tilt-Weasel

a.       Gargantuan, Chump, non-hired Toadies and special case characters will not be attacked by Full-Tilt-Weasel

                                                               i.      Weasel will not punch the above NPCs

o        Negative buzzer sound is played when “action” button is pressed

ii.      The Goon will not be on the playfield during Full-Tilt-Weasel
